The University-Community Trauma Research Group, Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute, University of South Florida, was formed in 2006 to provide a forum to promote transdisciplinary approaches to prevention, intervention and research on trauma across the lifespan and to understand its biological, psychological and societal effects.
The purpose of the Research Group's forums, seminars and conferences is to create opportunities for the USF community for mutual education, networking and collaboration to address this pressing and widespread issue. To date, participants have looked at traumatic stress as a result of child physical and sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, disasters, and war.

Violence and trauma have profound, lasting consequences for our health and mental health, our communities, and our families. Individuals who experience violence require a trauma-informed mental health approach to remediate problems. Large-scale traumatic events such as a disaster, terrorist attack, or other public health emergencies can strain health and social services. The demand for information and resources in the field is great. We invite you to join us October 20 & 21, 2008 at the Renaissance Hotel in Tampa. The Many Faces of Trauma: Community Engaged Trauma Research conference is designed to strengthen community partnerships for developing approaches that can remediate the impacts of trauma, will bring together leading experts to discuss trauma assessment, intervention and community and system responses to trauma.
The artwork depicted was created by Anna Caroline Jennings. She was sexually abused when she was less than three years old. Anna expressed her abuse vividly and poignantly through her sketches, oil paintings and water colors.
